Make Basic Breads Course Overview

This course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively make basic bread products. This includes preparing, shaping, proofing and baking different types of dough for different desired products. Participants will learn to appreciate and use a variety of baking tools, equipment and ingredients in the process, and also learn how to maintain the quality of ingredients during preparation and quality of their bread products during baking, cooling and storage.

Make Basic Breads Course Objectives

Participants will learn basic cake making knowledge. The course will cover the following five topics:

  • Identify and use a variety of baking tools, equipment and ingredients
  • Explain the principles of baking basic breads and the importance of each stage in the process
  • Prepare, shape and proof different types of doughs
  • Prepare fillings and toppings for desired bread products
  • Bake proofed dough into desired bread products

Who Should Attend

Anyone who has a passion to learn about basic bread baking foundation and technique food.

Minimum Entry Requirement

Entry Requirements

  • Aged 18 and above
  • At least PSLE or equivalent
  • Ability to understand, read, write and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3
  • No prior work experience is required
  • Learners who do not qualify in terms of education but have the relevant working experience will be admitted on a case-by-case basis (to be evaluated by the Management Representative)

Make Basic Breads Course Duration

The make basic breads course is a three-day course consisting of 24 hours of training and 2 hours of assessment. ICASTEC class usually starts from 9 am to 6 pm.

Make Basic Breads Course Assessment Mode

Participants are required to undergo a 2 hours assessment comprising of practical performance (PP) and a written assessment (WA).

Make Basic Breads Course Certificate

Participants who completed the course and passed the assessment will be awarded a Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Certificate issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

Each class holds a maximum of 20 pax.

A mask must be worn at all times during class. Please avoid wearing slippers, shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops for safety.

After completing the course, you will be awarded an SSG/WSQ Cert (Statement of Attainment).
