Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations Course Overview

The Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations  course trains anyone who handles and prepares food in a Singapore Food Agency (SFA) licensed retail food establishment. ICASTEC is an NEA/SSG Approved Food Hygiene Course training provider.

This course will help employees in the F&B industry to gain awareness of workplace safety and health at the workplace, assist in checks for any issues or non-compliances, as well as share control measures to improve/rectify them. In the course of picking up these skills, learners will also learn to comply with workplace safety procedures and processes in the restaurants, kitchens, or food/drink stall they work in.

Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations Course Content

At the end of the workplace safety and health course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of adhering to workplace safety and health policies and procedures
  • Describe their role and responsibilities in maintaining and improving workplace safety and health
  • Interpret and comply with common safety signs, instructions, and hazard symbols
  • Identify the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety device required for safe operations of different tools and equipment in the workplace
  • Support compliance inspections within the work area to identify non-compliances, unsafe work conditions and unsafe practices
  • Explain the risks and control measures for the identified issues to the relevant stakeholders

Who Should Attend

Any person who handles and prepares food and beverage in SFA-licensed food establishment i.e. Kitchen Managers, Supervisors, Chefs, Sous Chefs, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants, Food Stall Assistants and all food and beverage handlers.

Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations Course Learning Outcome

Level 2 of the food safety course is for food handlers who level up and take on greater responsibilities in the kitchen and the work premises in Food and Beverage establishments in general. It equips them with the know-how to conduct food safety checks for their specific work areas.

Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations Course Assessment Mode

At the end of the course, participants will be required to undergo an assessment for 1 hour which comprises:

  • Practical performance (PP)
  • Written assessment (WA)

Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations Certificate

Upon successful completion of the course and passing all assessments, participant will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) by SSG.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to retrieved your Food Hygiene Statement of Attainment Certificate from SkillsFuture Skills Passport website.

Each class holds a maximum of 20 pax.

A mask must be worn at all times during class. Please avoid wearing slippers, shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops for safety.

After completing the course, you will be awarded an SSG/WSQ Cert (Statement of Attainment).
